OKLAHOMA CITY - Former Oklahoma House Speaker Lance Cargill offered to consult for a Democratic candidate's campaign for Oklahoma County commissioner.
But the candidate, Jim Dickinson, says he turned Cargill down because his pricetag was too high.
Dickinson, a Democrat, says he met Cargill, a Republican, about three weeks ago and listened to his longtime acquaintance make a pitch to run his campaign.
He says Cargill offered to coordinate campaign fundraising and run Dickinson's campaign at a cost of $10,000 for the primary and another $10,000 for the general election. Dickinson says that was out of his price range.
Cargill stepped down from the speaker's position in January after it was revealed he was repeatedly late filing his personal taxes and paying property taxes.
