Operation Boot Camp - Day 18
Today was a little crazy. It was bring-a-friend day at boot camp and I invited some News9 staffers to join us. Six people came! Robin Marsh was also there doing live shots all morning, and she brought her friend, Miss America 2007, Lauren Nelson.
By the time we were finished with warm up and running over to the workout area, I'd forgotten about the camera, the lights, and the extra visitors. That's because out workout was called "House of Pain." That's right. House of Pain. It's not as scary as it sounds, but it's tough!
We divided into several groups and each group went to a station. At my group's first station, we had to jump and touch our toes on cones for two minutes. At station two we did the plank hold. Station three meant throwing weighted balls around. We had to jump rope at station four, then at station five we did "bicycles." At each station we did the exercise for two minutes. After a couple of passes through each station, we ran around the field twice. That part wasn't bad at all - in fact, it was our "resting" period!
The visitors did a great job! The two teams who did the most cheering got to rest while the other three groups did bear crawls around the field. Luckily, my team was one of those who got to skip the bear crawl!
Before the workout, Robin interviewed me. She reminded me of how I felt the first couple of days - I knew how hard this program would be, and actually hated the second day of boot camp. When Robin asked me how I feel now, almost three weeks later, my attitude had changed. I really do love this program! I look forward to it every day. When we started we had four new people who've never done boot camp before. Three of us are still in.
I hope I'm not giving anyone the impression this is easy. It's not. It's a workout. Even people who have been going for months sweat just as much as the new people!
Hoo ya!
