WOODWARD, Okla. - About 50 longhorn steers are back in their pens, but not before roaming free in the streets of Woodward.

The cattle managed to get out of their pen at the Crystal Beach rodeo arena sometime Friday morning.

A group of police officers were eating breakfast when they saw a group of longhorn steers walking down the street.

The longhorns belonged to Woodward Chain Ranch owner Wes Sander, who said he received a phone call early Friday morning alerting him to the escaped cattle.

He said he managed to herd the cattle into a field near the North Canadian River, where they stayed until a group of ranch hands arrived and returned them to the arena.
