MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- Firefighters battled explosions and fire late Thursday night at a Midwest City party supply store.
The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. at the Party Galaxy store in the 200 block of Air Depot Boulevard.
Fire officials said the flames were so hot, the steel in the roof started to melt.
Fuel inside the store sent smoke billowing out of the building and the flammable materials also made the fire more difficult and dangerous to fight.
"They also had a lot of aerosol cans that were inside. Once they started to rupture then they can become missles and so they pulled our firefighters and it became a defensive type mode," said Midwest City firefighter Jerry Lojka.
The fire destroyed the store, but no one was injured in the blaze.
