OKLAHOMA CITY -- NASA astronaut John Herrington is best known for his travels to space, but the Oklahoma native is staying on solid ground for his next adventure.
Herrington is riding his bike across the country and stopped in Oklahoma City Tuesday.
His mission is clear: To encourage students in every state to get interested in science and math.
"Kids are paying attention," Herrington said. "If you can get kids motivated that math and science is something fun and practical, then they're more apt to want to learn it and that's the whole purpose behind this."
Herrington is scheduled to make another stop at Ada High School Wednesday.
