JACKSON, Mississippi -- Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen will be the new football coach at Mississippi State.
A spokesman confirmed the hire to The Associated Press on Wednesday afternoon. Mullen will be arriving in Starkville later in the day and will be introduced at a news conference Thursday.
The move ends speculation that OU Offensive Coordinator Kevin Wilson may take the Mississippi State job.
Mullen has been an assistant coach for 14 years and spent the last eight with Florida coach Urban Meyer at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.
The top-ranked Gators won the Southeastern Conference championship with a dominant offense led by Tim Tebow and will play No. 2 Oklahoma for the BCS national championship next month.
