Rain and ice are making for dangerous conditions in parts of Western Massachusetts as
plummeting temperatures are freezing some roads over.
In Shelburne Falls, a thick layer of ice covers the roads. In the span of an
hour, rain that drenched the region all day, quickly turned to ice.
The sudden switch made driving dangerous, and numerous spin outs were reported
to State Police.
Many of the hilltowns and higher elevation areas saw ice, while the rest of
the Pioneer Valley was hit with more rain. In all, several inches of rain is
expected to last until midday Friday
