Hurricane force wind gusts were battering the Denver metro area Tuesday. A high wind warning is in effect for the Front Range and along the foothills. Wind gusts up to 98 miles per hour have been reported.
The winds brought down trees, power lines, damaged fences and roofs of homes in the metro area. In Broomfield, just north of Denver, the wind gust brought down a huge tree.
The homeowner said she heard the wind howling all night long and was afraid the tree would fall on the house. It didn't. Instead it fell on their truck.
The family recently moved from Florida and said they never expected to experience such strong winds in Colorado.
