I used to be a Girl Scout. I was a Junior! That's what we were called in the later elementary school years. I earned badges. I learned new things! And I did it all in the company of other girls who wanted to learn too! That's why I believe Girl Scouts is a wonderful organization, dedicated to building girls' "courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place."

And the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma, which serves the OKC area, always needs volunteers. This is your opportunity to make a difference! See how one long time Scout made a difference while working at her job at 66 Bowl in Oklahoma City when a woman was injured while bowling. Click on the Making a Difference page to watch the video!

From www.gswestok.org, read on to learn more about how you can volunteer with the Girl Scouts and make a difference:

"Girls need mentors, caring adults who can help them discover their own sense of self and leadership potential. Volunteers are key to Girl Scouts-Western Oklahoma. We depend on volunteers to make sure are more than 13,000 girls throughout our service area have a Girl Scout experience that will last them a lifetime. Last year more than 2,000 adults gave thousands of hours to help today's girls become tomorrow's leaders. The estimated dollar value of volunteer time is $19.51 per hour for 2007, according to the Independent Public Sector. This means our volunteers have contributed over $1.87 million worth of time and effort to Girl scouts-Western Oklahoma, Inc. -- making them our largest and most appreciated donor."

"You help shape the future by donating your time."

"We need your help and continued support! It doesn't matter if you are a young adult or retired; male or female; professional or stay-at-home parent. You don't even have to have a daughter or female relative in Girl Scouts to volunteer!"
