OKLAHOMA CITY -- A nationwide salmonella outbreak may have already made its way to Oklahoma.
The Department of Health said a child in the northeastern part of the state has contracted the illness that has spread to at least 42 others states.
"That individual is now doing fine. They had symptoms that lasted several days, but they are recovering and doing fine," said Laurence Burnsed with the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
Salmonella has sickened nearly 400 people across the nation.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is leading the investigation to determine which foods may have caused people to become sick.
