A pooling mass of Arctic air across far northern Canada and Alaska will begin its descent southward across central and southern Canada over the next few days; temperatures in the aforementioned locations range from 20 to 50 degrees BELOW zero. Though the air mass will warm during its southerly plunge into the U.S., bitterly cold conditions will be felt across the state Thursday and Friday.
Thursday and Friday morning lows will bottom out in the 10s and 20s with wind chill values in the single numbers. Temperatures will only reach into the 20s and 30s during the daytime Thursday and Friday with slightly colder wind chill values.
A return to warmer weather will begin next weekend.
