1 Arrested at Gunpoint on UCO Campus

University of Central Oklahoma campus police have a suspect in custody after leading them on a foot chase, Adrianne Nobles with UCO Public Relations said.

EDMOND, Oklahoma - University of Central Oklahoma campus police have a suspect in custody after leading them on a foot chase, Adrianne Nobles with UCO Public Relations said.

According to Nobles, campus police pulled student Tyler Payne over for a traffic violation and it lead to the chase.

When the officer got out to talk to Payne, he put his hand underneath the seat. School officials said the officer pulled his gun and Payne fled on foot.

Payne dropped a bag when he ran that is believed to have had marijuana. Payne was apprehended and taken to the Oklahoma County jail.

Payne is also accused of stealing a handicap permit and campus permit.

UCO is located on 2nd Street between Bryant Avenue and Boulevard Street.
