6-Year-Old Tulsan Dies from Shooting Injury

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Police said a 6-year-old Tulsa boy, who accidentally shot himself in the face Wednesday afternoon, has died.

Police said Jeffery Allen died Thursday morning at a Tulsa hospital.

Police were called after the family showed up at Tulsa hospital with the boy.

According to police, Jeffrey Allen had Down syndrome and was in a bedroom of his home in the 800 block of North Troost, when he reportedly shot himself in the face.

An investigation into the shooting continues.

Four children live in the home with their mother. She had recently married a man who was just released from prison, police said.

Neighbors have reported strange occurrences with the family before.

"She'll go off and leave them kids up there by their self...And I don't approve of that," neighbor Lenora Hamilton said.

Police said they don't know if any family members were home at the time of the shooting.
