HAWLEY, Texas (AP) -- Fire crews are making progress against a wildfire that's destroyed eight homes in West Texas. They've been using bulldozers to dig up the ground and cut down grass and brush that helped fuel the fire. No injuries have been reported. The homes that burned were scattered across a rural area northwest of Abilene. Weather conditions today have been favorable for firefighters, with higher humidity and calmer winds. It's been dry across Texas, with severe drought conditions in parts of the state.
