Staff and Wire Reports

OKLAHOMA CITY - The ice and sleet is beginning to melt away.

Highs will reach the mid to upper 30s with light winds this afternoon.

Then, it will be another cold night with lows in the low 20s and a chance for some patchy fog. Tomorrow morning there will be a chance for some continued fog, but for the afternoon we will have mostly sunny skies and temperatures reaching the mid 40s.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation reports that roads are still slick and crews are still trying to clear the roads. Steer clear of the wrecks with Live Traffic Reports.

Most schools and colleges canceled Wednesday classes. View a complete list of weather-related closings.

Ice Storm Photos

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol called Interstate 40 in eastern Oklahoma "treacherous" after several sections of the roadway were shut down Tuesday night and early Wednesday because of jackknifed tractor-trailer rigs.

Nearly 1,200 Oklahoma Gas and Electric customers in eastern Oklahoma, and almost 1,800 more in western Arkansas, were without power Wednesday morning, according to OG&E's Web site.

Troopers also reported that the 2-day storm had caused at least 1,000 collisions, including two fatal.

While road conditions are expected to improve tonight, drivers could face slick and hazardous roads again tonight and Thursday morning as the melted ice and sleet begins to refreeze.
