Bitter cold. Lashing winds. Ice and wildfires. Oklahomans have experienced just about everything so far this year save for plain, good ol' fashion rain. I have good news my friends; rain returns to the forecast this week!
A storm system developing over the Southwest today will combine with a warm, moderately moist air mass over the Central Plains to bring widespread showers and thunderstorms to the state tonight through Monday morning. Being that it is early February, and moisture will still be somewhat limited, the threat for severe weather remains low, however present. Strong storms will be possible Sunday night across the state, packing strong winds and hail. Isolated severe storms are also a possibility.
Several more storm systems will sweep across the Central Plains during the upcoming workweek providing additional opportunities for rain and thunderstorms.
