Get ready to get cold

Gone are the warm conditions and southerly winds of yesterday - don't get me wrong the wind machine will still be in full swing today, just out of the north. Those northerly winds averaging 20-40 mph with gusts over 50 mph will continuously pump cold air into Oklahoma this afternoon. Temperatures will only top out in the 40s and 50, though feeling cooler with the windy conditions.

The winds will decrease somewhat tonight, 15-25 mph, but even the wind won't be able to stave off the hard freeze expected by Monday morning. Temperatures will drop to, or below freezing for a prolonged period of time, prompting protective measures to be taken regarding outdoor vegetation. An additional hard freeze is expected Monday night into Tuesday morning with temperatures hitting rock bottom in the 10s, 20s and 30s by daybreak Tuesday.

By Wednesday we will warm both ends of the spectrum with morning lows rebounding into the 40s and afternoon highs in the 70s.
