Hot Spots Out for Elk City Blaze

Firefighters were able to gain control of the blaze in Elk City Thursday night and put out all of the hot spots.

Donate to the American Red CrossELK CITY, Oklahoma - A large grass fire burned near Elk City on Thursday causing several collision on Interstate 40.

Heavy smoke from the fire caused low visibility for drivers and caused several wrecks.

Firefighters were able to gain control of the blaze Thursday night and put out all of the hot spots.

Officials are still assessing any damage to the area.  

There have been no reports of major damage or injuries from the blaze itself. No injuries were reported from Thursday's wrecks along I-40.
