Fire Consumes Homes in Carter County

ARDMORE, Oklahoma - The Carter County Sheriff estimates between 40 and 50 homes have been destroyed. 

Chester Agan, assistant emergency management director for the county, said the number of destroyed homes was expected to rise as more information came in.

No injuries were reported.

On Friday, a 12th home near the town of Ratliff was completely destroyed by fire. A grassfire, thought to be extinguished, reignited.

"I thought it was out and it did pose any threats whatsoever," the homeowner said. "I was wrong."

Along Highway 76 from Ratliff City to Fox, 12 homes burned to the ground.
