Governor Brad Henry released the following statement after wildfires swept across the state, leaving more than 100 homes completely destroyed:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the Oklahomans who have been impacted by the wildfires and severe weather tonight. We know many families have lost homes and other property, and we will do our best to help them rebuild their lives in the days and weeks to come.

"We are doing everything we can to deliver resources to firefighters and first responders on the front lines. They have done an amazing job under very challenging conditions, and we owe them a great debt of gratitude. Their heroism has helped save lives and property.

"Our state emergency management and agriculture department personnel have been helping coordinate the state response in cooperation with local authorities. We have also been in contact with federal authorities to make sure we have all available resources necessary to respond to this emergency.

"When daylight breaks tomorrow, we will be able to better assess damages and determine our next step in helping people recover and rebuild."
