High pressure is dominating the weather through the eastern U.S.
today, as skies are generally mostly sunny. There are some high clouds over
the southeastern U.S. A series of storm systems are spreading showers and
isolated thunderstorms through the northern Plains while showers and
thunderstorms are developing through the central and southern Plains. Some of
these storms will be strong to severe with large hail and damaging winds
likely as well as few tornadoes. The rain is falling as snow through the
northern and central Rockies. Some of the snow may be heavy as well. Clouds
are on the increase in the Northwest while sunny to partly cloudy skies are
being seen through the Southwest.
