A weak trough of low pressure is spreading a few thunderstorms through the eastern Great Lakes and southern sections of the Northeast. Sunny to partly cloudy skies are being experienced through the southeastern U.S. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico is spreading north through the south-central U.S. and is providing the necessary fuel for widely scattered showers and thunderstorms over the southern Plains. As a cold front extends through the central- central U.S., rain showers are falling through the Midwest while rain and snow is falling from the northern Plains west into the northern Rockies. The rain and snow is spreading west into the Sierra Nevada and central sections of California. Sunshine is being seen on the Northwest while sunny to partly cloudy skies are spreading through the southwestern U.s. and the southern half of the Rockies.
