The pieces are starting to come together. Sources tell News 9 that Orban Vannostran's daughter, Deborah, who was running the store, is the one who took the money. We're told she also took off to Florida. Being as though it's his daughter explains why we didn't find a police report for embezzlement or theft.
We're told she left behind proof of orders taken from brides, but never actually placed. (Seeing as though she had access to client's credit cards, I would be looking at my statements carefully over the next fee months. You can dispute a charge is you see it.)
All this while Vannostran was taking care of his sick wife.
Does this excuse Vannostran? I don't think so, but it sure explains a lot more.
We're also told Vannostran is out of town right now. He has to come back for his bankruptcy hearing where we hope to get some answers as to what brides can do now.
Also - I just got word from a bride that she contacted the manufacturer directly, and while she had to pay for the dresses again, they sold them to her at wholesale.
