Act Could Impact Buying at Gun Shows

OKLAHOMA CITY - A bill recently introduced in Congress could drop a bombshell on the way gun shows work.

The Blair Holt Act sparked serious debate at the Oklahoma gun show this weekend. The act would prohibit unlicensed gun ownership, meaning you could no longer walk up to an exhibitor at a gun show and buy a weapon. You would first need to get a state-issued license.

"It's just a bad idea, period. This is America and I don't think we need anything like that," said gun exhibitor Randy James.

"If you're in it for the right reasons, if you have a pistol for the right reason, then you don't have a problem with having a license," gun owner Melissa Childress said.

The act is now in the subcommittee on Homeland Security. It if makes it out of there, it will get a full vote from the House of Representatives.
