Wall Street Journal Blog Disputes Coburn's 'Moral Double Standard'

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn has been criticized for what some are calling a ‘moral double standard.'

Sen. Ensign admitted to having an affair with Cynthia Hampton, a former campaign aide, over one year ago.

TheDailyBeast.com posted a blog Sunday stating Senator Coburn, who shares and apartment with Ensign in Washington D.C., knew about the affair and helped cover it up. These accusations came out despite Coburn having bashed others for adulterous behavior including former President Bill Clinton and former Idaho Sen. Larry Craig.

However, on the Wall Street Journal's blog from just days before, Susan Davis reported conflicting information.

Cynthia Hampton's husband Doug reportedly sent a letter to Fox News stating him and others close to Ensign, including Sen. Coburn, tried to intervene multiple times while Ensign was pursuing Cynthia Hampton.

Doug Hampton claims he has evidence to back up these claims. This new information shows that Senator Coburn may have known about the affair but did not support Ensign's behavior.
