Clouds, rain and isolated-to-scattered thunderstorms will make Tuesday gloomy for regions stretching from the Great Lakes to the Ohio Valley and across New England. Temperatures in the Northeast will cool with below-average afternoon highs expected.
Showers and thunderstorms will pop up across Texas and along the Gulf Coast. Rain is also expected to develop over the Florida Peninsula.
Scattered clouds and thunderstorms will form across areas of the Southwest, the Central Great Basin and California. Weather conditions for other parts of the West should be fairly quiet.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from 33 degrees at Old Faithful, Wyo., to 121 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
