OKLAHOMA CITY -- Tuesday, 18 dancers were chosen as the new Thunder Girls and the 19th dancer will be chosen by the fans online to complete the team.
The audition process started on Saturday with over 100 women from across the country and the world. Tuesday at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill in Bricktown, 40 girls were narrowed down to the final 18, with two additional girls vying for the 'People's Choice' vote and the final spot on the team.
Over 650 fans came out to watch the final audition. Out of the 18 dancers, 10 are Oklahomans, one girl is from Barrington, Illinois and another dancer came from Tokyo, Japan. Over half the squad are returning members.
The two Thunder Girl hopefuls chosen for the first ever 'People's Choice' vote are both Oklahomans. Stacy from Edmond was the Thunder Girls Captain last year. Erica is from Midwest City and has been dancing since she was 5-years-old.
Voting ends Monday, July 27 at noon. The 'People's Choice' will be announces shortly after voting ends on the Thunder Web site.
The Thunder Girls perform at all the NBA team's home games and also make appearances throughout the year at various community events.
