OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma is the training ground for a new vaccine to prevent the H1N1 virus in children.
Oklahoma City based IPS Research is recruiting 200 children to begin a clinical trial to test the vaccine.
"It's anticpated that this will in fact be an effective vaccine because it's produced in the same manner as the regular flu vaccine, but it's specific to the H1N1," said Dr. Louise Thurman with IPS Research.
Researchers said patients will be given either a vaccine or a placebo and will be monitored by doctors.
The clinical trial will include 12,000 children across the country.
