OKLAHOMA CITY -- A woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting an item worth 89 cents.
Maria Ataide, 51, was shopping at Homeland, 1108 N.W. 18th St. Store employees reported seeing her stick a package of emery boards in her coat pocket, police said.
Ataide had paid for other items, but never attempted to pay for the emery boards, according to a police report.
When asked why Oklahoma City police arrested Ataide, Sergeant Jennifer Wardlow, a spokesperson for the department, said "when a store wants to press charges we can't just do nothing."
