OKLAHOMA CITY -- Researchers with Columbia University said at least 10 million Americans will get the winter blues this time of year. They call it Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD. Researchers said SAD sets in every November because less daylight can cause depression.

But there are some ways to pick yourself up if you start feeling down:

  • Surround yourself with friends and family
  • Keep moving and try to get some exercise
  • Avoid lots of heavy food and add protein to your diet

Talk to your doctor if you think you might have SAD. There are light treatments to help with those symptoms.
