OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma County District Attorney could charge a man already convicted of beating a woman with her murder.

Tommy Lee Sampson beat 31-year-old Tovanya Ford in 2006. Ford was found lying on the porch of a house at 2243 N.E. 15th Street with severe trauma to her body. Sampson was convicted of that beating and sentenced to 25 years in prison for the assault.

When Ford died on April 9, 2010, investigators re-opened the case. The State Medical Examiner's Office recently determined Ford's death was a direct result of the beating she received back in 2006 and her death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators now plan to present first-degree murder charges against 38-year-old Sampson. The district attorney will determine whether to file those charges.
