Mayor Cornett Suggests Santa Claus Join OKC's Diet

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City's diet program has been recognized across the country and now Mayor Mick Cornett wants Santa Claus to join the weight loss challenge.

Thursday Mayor Cornett caught up with Santa in downtown Oklahoma City and suggested Jolly Ol' Saint Nick drink low fat milk and eggnog.

"If Santa is successful in keeping off the pounds this holiday season perhaps he'll only need seven reindeer because it'll be a more efficient flying machine...Now that's an idea," said Cornett.

This is the third year for the mayor's diet program. So far 40,000 members have lost a total of 642,000 pounds. Their goal is one million pounds.

ThisCityIsGoingOnADiet.com was launched by Cornett on December 31, 2007 to encourage residents to become healthier by losing one million pounds.
