OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City Thunder fans can receive a great gift for doing a good deed. The team is giving two, free game tickets to people who donate blood.

The team and the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) will hold the Holiday Blood Drive at the Cox Convention Center, Thursday Dec. 30. Tickets will be given away from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., or until all available tickets are gone.

When OBI and the Thunder teamed up last year, a record 910 Oklahomans donated blood, the most at a non-crisis related drive. It was the largest one-day donation event in OBI's 33-year history.

"The Oklahoma City Thunder provides great motivation for good-hearted Oklahomans to give Thursday, when so many are traveling or involved in holiday activities, and blood donation typically declines," said John Armitage, M.D., Oklahoma Blood Institute president and chief executive. "With the Thunder giving the hottest tickets in town again this year, we're hoping Oklahomans will rise together to break last year's record."

Blood donors at the event will also receive gloves and health screenings, and they can register to win a basketball signed by Thunder players. There will also be games for children, and the Thunder Girls and Rumble will make special appearances.

Donors can park for free in the garage directly beneath the Cox Convention Center. People must be 16 years or older to donate.
