OKLAHOMA CITY -- The day after Christmas is the second busiest day of the year for shoppers and retailers.
But malls and stores aren't just filled with people looking for great deals, there's also those looking to return their gifts.
A survey shows 1 in 5 people hit the stores Sunday and most of the folks are shopping on the day after Christmas for the very first time.
Thousands of shoppers swarm through the malls on the day after Christmas.
Among the shoppers, Sonya Williams who tried her shopping luck and with half a dozen bag in hands, that's enough proof she scored some major sales.
Williams is from Woodward, she says hitting the malls the day after Christmas will be a new tradition.
"it's been great, saved lots of money and never done this before, it's something new for an elderly person like me. Fun!" Williams said.
Nicole Wyer had her whole family in toll and got a game plan in place.
"Discipline and bribes," Wyer said. "shop eat, shop some more and get ice cream and go home."
But before heading home, she picked up more Christmas presents.
"We're redeeming gift cards we took back a couple things and shopping for the family," Wyer said.
Arthur Mitchell and his kids say their giftcards are a present that keeps on giving.
"They're taking advantage of the money they got for Christmas and now they have some good deals and bought some nice things so it's worked out real well for us today," Mitchell said.
The day after Christmas is also a big day for returns. But one grandmother says she'll help her grandkids avoid returning their gifts.
"I think I'll stop doing Christmas shopping give the kids money and say you've got to go shopping the day after Christmas," she joked.
The days following Christmas are also a big time for returns, we have a list of return policies for some of the major stores around the Metro.
