SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -- Five teenagers were injured early Monday in a car crash in Pottawatomie County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the 16-year-old driver was speeding southbound down Crosslin Road east of Shawnee around 12:15 a.m. When the road ended, the car veered off the road and crashed.
The driver was flown by Mediflight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. At last check, he was in serious condition with head, neck, arm and internal trunk injuries.
The four passengers, ranging in age from 13 to 16, were transported to OU Medical Center by ambulance. The 13-year-old was treated and released. The other passengers suffered head, neck, back and various other injuries and remain hospitalized.
OHP troopers said none of the teens in the car was wearing seat belts.
