OKLAHOMA CITY -- Many Oklahomans remember when "Main Street" was the heart of their community. Now, two Oklahoma towns could win a national award for keeping their "Main Streets" alive.

Durant and Hobart are two of 10 cities across the nation chosen as finalists for the Great American Main Street Awards.

Durant city leaders were determined to put their downtown area back in business. The Main Street program has helped the town thrive ever since.

And the same happened in Hobart. Since joining the Main Street program six years ago, Hobart has experienced more than $3 million in reinvestments and improvements.

Five winners will be chosen in May.
