Elderly Woman Hit, Killed By Vehicle After Crossing Highway

SPIRO, Oklahoma -- Authorities in Le Flore County said an 82-year-old woman was hit and killed by a vehicle after she tried to cross a highway.

Betty G. Skelton was crossing US 59 near the Oklahoma-Arkansas border at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when she was hit by the vehicle.

Skelton was transported to a hospital in Ft. Smith, Arkansas where she died.

The driver was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured.
