OKLAHOMA CITY – A large four-alarm fire destroyed apartments at a vacant complex on the northwest side of the city.

The fire started at the Lantanna Apartments at N.W. 10th Street and Rockwell Avenue at about 6 p.m. At least eight units were damaged by the fire.

All the apartments are vacant. Fire crews had to cut locks to get on the property.

"These apartments are boarded up and not inhabited. There's no utilities to them," said Oklahoma City Deputy Fire Chief Cecil Clay. "So this appears to be a very suspicious fire."

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Despite low wind gusts, the cold temperatures have caused very dry conditions throughout the state, causing the fire the easily spread throughout the vacant building.
