We are watching a couple of weather hazards: Fire danger and a potential winter storm.
The dry weather pattern that has continued across Oklahoma this winter season has left the state susceptible to wild fires. That threat will go up today because of the warm temperatures, low humidity and gusty southwest winds. Be extremely careful with all fire products today! A burn ban is in effect for Oklahoma and Lincoln counties.
The other big story is the potential for a winter storm early next week! Colder air will arrive this weekend and will have settled over the state just in time for the next moisture laden weather system. As things look today, this will create complications to commuters but also bring a very welcome rain, mix or snow event to the state Monday into Tuesday…We desperately need it! This will be the first opportunity for substantial precipitation this winter for the central part of the state.
We will fine tune this forecast as we get closer to Monday and Tuesday. Join me on Facebook for more discussions!
