My 2 Cents: Disappointing Super Bowl Sunday

They say comedy sells, but I say bad comedy is a real turn off, and there was a lot of bad comedy during last night's Super Bowl.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- They say comedy sells, but I say bad comedy is a real turn off, and there was a lot of bad comedy during last night's Super Bowl.

Overall the game was good, the commercials were disappointing, and the musical performances mostly awful.

You already know about Christina Aguilera flubbing the National Anthem. Even if she had gotten the words right, she way over-sang it and looked angry most of the time.

Half time show-- dud.

Fox was this close to having a cool intro for each team with Sam Elliott narrating.

But why was he dressed like a skinny little inmate instead of putting him on horseback, in a long black duster and cowboy hat. The game was in Texas for crying out loud. Have you seen the movie 'Tombstone?'

And did Michael Douglass ask to do something?

Because the opening he voiced was warmed over Sam Elliott, only with the nerve to compare a football game to Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream Speech"... seriously?

The commercials-- most tried too hard, the soft drink and beer commercials especially. Some were just inappropriate.

I was amused by the Groupon spots which mocked political correctness concerning saving the Whales and Tibet.

By far my favorite was the Darth Vader Volkswagen Commercial with the little kid using the "Force" to start his dad's Passat.

Excluding the play on the field, it was not a "super" Super Bowl.
