Cleveland County Boy Dies From Flu

The child's death is the fifth flu-related death in Oklahoma since the current flu-season began Sept. 1.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting the flu-related death of a Cleveland County boy.

The department's website says the boy was less than 5 years old and that he died during the week of Jan. 23 through 29 -- which is the most recent week reported.

The child's death is the fifth flu-related death in Oklahoma since the current flu-season began Sept. 1. The health department reports 458 total hospitalizations due to the flu with 156 of those during the Jan. 23 through 29 reporting period.

The department says 53 percent of all hospitalizations have been in the 18-and under age group.
