OKLAHOMA CITY -- I'm telling you, rarely does a day go by that I don't receive an e-mail from a viewer asking what happened to all of the lottery money that was supposed to be pouring into our schools.

Our Oklahoma Impact Team, explained it beautifully last night, in a story you can now find out at News9.com.

But the bottom line is this, the lottery has fallen far short of the projections that then candidate Brad Henry was selling 7 years ago.

I wasn't buying it back then, and said so.

The evidence from surrounding states' lotteries just didn't support the claims that an Oklahoma lottery could generate $350 million a year.

That projection was quickly cut in half, but was still way too high.

Today it's only kicking in about $30 million a year to schools, and that's committed to pay for state mandated teacher raises and it's not enough.

So there has been no lottery windfall for the schools, and I certainly don't see one in the future.
