A basketball coach, trying to toughen up his team, may have gone too far, but criminal charges?
During practice video from Holy Family University near Philadelphia, Coach John O'Connor is throwing the ball against the backboard conducting combat rebounding drills where two players battle for the ball. Then he reaches in and knocks one of the players to the floor. He uses his foot to give him a firm suggestion to get back up.
The coach insists it wasn't intentional.
But a few minutes later he yells at the player that it's good that he's got a little blood on him. But when the player tells him it's the coaches fault, the coach kicks him out of practice.
The player and his parents may sue because the school didn't take action against the coach swiftly enough, and they filed a police report.
The coach could face criminal charges.
I think that's weak.
Mom and dad, these aren't Junior High kids, these are college age men.
In that moment the coach was obviously a bully and a jerk but he isn't a criminal.
