Oklahoma Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Department of Defense said a Lawton soldier has been killed during combat in Afghanistan.

Officials announced Thursday that Sgt. Travis M. Tompkins died on Wednesday, a day after he was injured when his unit was attacked with a rocket-propelled grenade in Logar province.

The 31-year-old was assigned to the Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division based in Fort Polk, La.
