OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma County judge has denied motions to dismiss the case of a state representative and a former state senator who are charged with felony bribery.
Special Judge Stephen Alcorn denied the request during a hearing Friday for Rep. Randy Terrill of Moore and former state Sen. Debbe Leftwich of Oklahoma City. Alcorn also set a preliminary hearing for Aug. 8-12.
Terrill, a Republican, is charged with offering Leftwich, a Democrat, an $80,000-a-year state job in exchange for her agreeing not to seek re-election last fall and clear the way for a Republican House member to run for her seat. Leftwich is charged with soliciting or accepting a bribe.
Both have denied wrongdoing.
Terrill's attorney, Stephen Jones, and Robert McCampbell, a lawyer for Leftwich, say they may appeal Alcorn's decision.
