OKLAHOMA CITY -- McDonald's restaurants are hiring thousands of people Tuesday across the nation -- except in central Oklahoma.

The fast food chain announced in March that it would hold a National Hiring Day on April 19, and hire 50,000 new employees. Because the day fell on the 16th anniversary of the Murrah Federal Building bombing, McDonald's decided to change the hiring date for Oklahoma City and central Oklahoma restaurants.

Instead, local McDonald's restaurants will hold their hiring day on Wednesday, April 20. Franchises in central Oklahoma are looking to hire an additional 400 people at 196 restaurants.
