OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Florida man who was killed in a shootout with FBI agents Thursday had Oklahoma ties.
Investigators said Sandlin Smith was likely in Oklahoma because he had acquaintances here and in Texas and had been in contact with them.
The investigators also said the acquaintances had no knowledge of what was going on.
Smith died on Wednesday after agents found him camping at the Glass Mountain State Park.
They say he pulled an AK-47 on them.
Smith was wanted by the FBI in connection with a mosque bombing in Florida in May 2010.
