MURRAY COUNTY, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State Troopers believe sleepiness played a role in the traffic death of an Oklahoma man late Saturday night in Murray County. Steven Mays, 38, of Mannsville died in a single-car collision at about 10:21 p.m. on Interstate 35 at the 48 mile marker.
Mays was driving southbound on the highway when his 2004 Dodge pickup left the roadway and hit an embankment. He was ejected about 21 feet from the vehicle.
Trooper Brian McGill of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol lists the cause of the collision as "apparently sleepy." Mays, who was not wearing his seat belt, died at the scene of head injuries.
