OKLAHOMA CITY -- What's the old saying, "no good deed goes unpunished?" Here's proof of that from our neighbors to the South... Big D.
Back in February, 15-year-old Ashley Donaldson discovered an envelope stuffed full of cash in a shopping center parking lot, $2,000.
Her family needed the money, having recently moved to Texas from Colorado and living in a 1 bedroom apartment with 2 parents and four kids, but she turned it in to a nearby bank and they contacted the police.
Well, after three months of looking for the rightful owner the police have given up.
So guess who gets the money?
Would you believe the City of Dallas has decided to keep it.
A Dallas Police spokesman told Ashley not to worry, the city would put the money to good use.
I'm sure that made her feel much better.
Ashley said she doesn't regret turning the money in and feels proud of herself.
Wonder if the City of Dallas does?
