OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OKLAHOMA -- A 26-year-old Shawnee man is hospitalized in critical condition after troopers say he drove his pickup head on into the path of a semi tractor trailer truck.

Richard Lewis was driving a 1998 Dodge Dakota westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 just east of Post Road in Oklahoma County at about 4:22 a.m. Sunday. According to a report by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, Lewis' vehicle first hit a 2001 International truck driven by Noe Saldana of Phoenix head on and then was pushed into the trailer of another semi truck.

Lewis was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital in critical condition with internal, head and other injuries.

The trooper says there was a smell of alcohol on Lewis, who was wearing his seat belt. The cause of the collision is listed as driving the wrong way on a one way.

Neither of the other drivers involved in the accident was injured.
